Aktis Gallery showcasing exquisite modern Chinese masterpieces

at Asian Art in London 2021

Aktis gallery proudly presents an exhibition ‘China on the Global Art Scene’for Asian Art in London 2021, featuring three of the most influential Chinese émigré artists of the 20th century: Zao Wou-ki (1921-2013), Wang Keping (b.1949) and Gao Xingjian (b.1940).

Aktis Gallery will showcase a selection of exquisite modern Chinese masterpieces, including Chinese abstract paintings by the renowned Zao Wou-Ki, the greatest Chinese artist of the lyrical abstraction movement in the 20th century. The works range from 1950 through to the year 2000, providing a fascinating insight into the span of Zao’s artistic practice. They will be exhibited alongside a group of sculptures by the exceptional contemporary sculptor Wang Keping, and a selection of ink paintings by the Nobel Laureate in Literature novelist and painter Gao Xingjian.

All three artists left their native homeland for Paris in the 20th century, gaining recognition by the international art world as well as continuing to build their reputation in China. In recent years, the three artists have gained strong art market recognition, with Zao Kou-ki ‘s monumental and sublime masterpiece Juin-Octobre 1985 realised $65 million at Sotheby’s, the highest for an evening auction sale in Hong Kong in 2019.
