"Anatomy of Feelings"

An extensive monograph has been produced by Somogy Editions d’art, Paris to accompany the Vladimir Yankilevsky retrospective exhibition, “Anatomy of Feelings”, organised at the Mall Galleries in London from February 22 to March 7, 2010.

 

Vladimir Yankilevsky is one of the key figures in non-official art of the 1960s to 80s.

 

The monograph also contains rare documentary and autobiographical materials about the artist’s life.

 

The monograph describes the main cycles in Vladimir Yankilevsky’s work: Early works; The Space of Experience; Anatomy of Feelings; Mutant and Megapolis, together with an in-depth presentation of the artist’s biography and exhibitions, and includes the list of museums and private collections where the works by Vladimir Yankilevsky can be found.

 

The monograph is accompanied by articles about Vladimir Yankilevsky’s work by critics:

 A. Borovsky – Head of Contemporary Art Department of the Russian State Museum, St Petersburg. Author of numerous articles on contemporary Russian art;

D. Riff – writer, poet and critic. Author of the book “Variation of the Other: A Digital-Analog Monograph on the works of Vladimir Yankilevsky” (Ruhr – University Bochum, Museum Bochum, 2002);

V. Patsukov – Head of the Experimental Programs, Department of the National Center for Contemporary Arts, Moscow. Art critic and curator of a series of exhibitions on contemporary Russian art;

E. Andras – member of the AICA (Association of International Critic of Art) and author of numerous publications on contemporary American art. Her conversation with V. Yankilevsky took place in New York in 1992.
